Trk-r.com is a collaborative freight tracking solution, that provides a workflow for shipping companies to negotiate freight rates for air and sea transport. Negotiating freight rates for special goods often happens in an unstructured or informal fashion, making it hard for any interested party to maintain an overview of the discussion.
The Trk-r.com workflow increases the quality of service both in-house and between companies, as it enables any member of a pricing desk to obtain a comprehensive overview of each deal and contribute to the communication thread when necessary. All communication and actions that occur through the negotiation of a deal are recorded in a change log to provide increased transparency, traceability, and auditing.
A built-in information system allows authorized users to perform analysis and gain meaningful insights into the financial viability of deals shipments within seconds. Queries can be changed interactively in a pivot-style manner, similar to MS Excel®.
Price Determination
Using a pre-defined workflow, the system assigns each request for quotation to the appropriate pricing desk by a sophisticated routing logic. Only members of the pricing desk have the authorization to quote prices.
Each request starts with an initial price based on master data, this will be refined as negotiations proceed between the requestor and the pricing desk, until a final deal is agreed upon. If a deal cannot be negotiated, the requestor or pricing desk can close the request with a questionnaire as to why the deal couldn’t be accomplished. Analyzing these questionnaires can be important in improving customer satisfaction and can reveal shortcomings within the deal-making process.
Change Log
Every change made to a request or deal is logged and can be accessed easily by any authorized user. Pricing desk members have additional rights including accessing the comments and base prices only meant for internal communication.
Profitability Analysis
The built-in information system allows quick and interactive analysis based on pivoted time series like MS Excel®. Built-in key figures such as the chargeable weight, gross weight, revenue, and margin can be combined with characteristics such as origin, destination, status, or dimensions such as day, month, and year to assemble meaningful on-the-fly pivot charts.
Harmonized Master Data
The tracker uses pre-defined settings and master data such as price brackets, airports, shippers, and consignees to expedite data entry and enforce a single source of truth. This data is loaded using flat files or acquired from an external system.
Cloud or On-Premise
The freight tracker can be deployed On-Premise or in the Cloud depending on customer needs. However, we recommend our customers use the Cloud model to avoid the cost of ownership and reduce operating costs.
